The quantification of carbohydrates can be challenging due to their high polarity, low volatility, their lack of a chromophore and their common occurrence in complex matrices.
CAMAG has released an application monograph on the identification and quantification of carbohydrates in various matrices. Two methods were developed for the HPTLC PRO System as described in the application note, many samples can be rapidly analysed at a low running costs.
The methods are suitable for the analysis of carbohydrates in various matrices like syrups, honeys and molasses.
